The Renault Etoile Filante had a Turbomeca Turbine Helicopter engine. In 1956 at the Bonneville salt flats it achieved a speed of over 300kph, a record for this class of vehicle. It was driven by Jean Herbert. The Renault Dauphine was launched in the USA after this record gave Renault some good publicity over there.
