Jaguar Cars, Coventry, England, The Jaguar Mk1 was of course the predecessor of the more famous and iconic Jaguar MkII and was a luxury 4 door saloon.  It was produced from 1955 to 1959 and had 2.4 litre and 3.4 litre engines.  The large engine was mainly for the American market.  In the late fifties many famous drivers such as Mike Hawthorn, Stirling Moss, Tommy Sopwith, Ivor Bueb and Roy Salvadori drove them in salon car races and rallies with some success.  Mike Hawthorn unfortunately died driving his own modified Jaguar Mk1 3.4 litre saloon on the Guilford by-pass in early 1959.
