Cadillac, USA.  This car marks Cadillac's return to endurance racing.  It is made to IMSA's Daytona Prototype international rules which are similar to LMP2 but more liberal in terms of the engine and body work.  The chassis is an LMP2 chassis by Dallara.  The body work is by Cadillac Design.  The engine is a 6.2 litre naturally aspirated Cadillac V8 engine producing 600hp. With Wayne Taylor Racing, the car has already won the 2017 Daytona 24 Hours and the Twelve Hours of Sebring.  Action Express have also entered two cars and achieved podium finishes.

Shelby American, Venice, California, USA.  The Daytona Coupe was built as a specific project based on the AC Cobra to defeat the Ferrari 250 GTO in GT racing.  Only six were built in period but were very successful winning their class in ten major races during 1964 and 1965 and becoming World Manufacturers Champions for GT cars in 1965. Famous drivers included Phil Hill, Chris Amon, Jo Schlesser, Innes Ireland, Jochen Neerpasch, Bob Bondurant, Maurice Trintignant, Jack Sears, Dick Thompson, John Whitmore and Peter Sutcliffe.  Since the sixties many replicas have been made.  The original cars were powered by big 4.7 litre and 7.0 litre Ford V8 engines.  It was named the Daytona as the 1964 2000km Endurance race at Daytona was its first event.

Autodelta SpA, Alfa Romeo, Italy.  This 2 litre V8 car achieved some success in endurance racing in 1968.  It started with a class win at Daytona in the 24 hours that gave the car its name of Daytona.   Class wins were also achieved at the Targa Florio and Nurburgring.   At Le Mans the 2 litre cars finished 4th, 5th and 6th and won the 2 litre class with the long tails configuration seen here.   The car picture is in the livery of the Ignazio Giunti/Nanni Galli car that came fourth.  The long tail cars are not strictly to be called Daytonas.   Overall victories were won in non-championship races at Mugello and Imola. Over 25 cars were built.  Later in the year a 2.5 litre car appeared.
