Simca, Poissy France.  This was introduced in December 1977 and followed on from the Simca 1000 Ralltye 1 and 2.  Only 1,000 were produced which homologated it as a Group 1 car.  It had a front spoiler and widened wheel arches which distinguished it from the earlier versions.  The engine was a 1.3 litre and the top speed was 183kph and it was regularly used in rallies, hillclimbs and slaloms.

Peugeot, France.  The Peugeot 106 XSI was introduced in 1991 as a supermini hatchback.  Itwas fairly lightweight and reliable and hence its popularity in rallies.  There were a number of engines over the years including a 1.4 litre and a 1.6 litre.  O-100kph was in under 10 seconds and top speed around 190kph depending on the model.
