Tiga Race Cars, Reading, England.  Tiga was named after its founders, former Formula One drivers, Tim Schenken and Howden Ganley.  Tim Schenken was a very succcesful F3 driver but only got on a F1 podium once for Brabham.  Howden Ganley has success in F5000 before his F1 career that yielded two fourth places for BRM.    Apparently, the proper pronunciation is like the big cat - Tiger.  They formed the company in 1974/5 and started off making Formula Ford cars.  In 1977 they began making Sports 2000 cars and at this they were very successful.  Between 1979 and 1985 their Sports 2000 car won either the British or European championships.  The SC80 won the British Championship in the hands of Ian Taylor.   It had a simple monocoque chassis and tubular fame bolted on to a 2 litre Ford Cortina engine.   The body is glass fibre.  The engine was tuned to develop about 130bhp and this pushed the car along at up to 135mph.   Occasionally these cars ran in bigger races.  In 1980 Divina Galicia and Mark Thatcher finished eleventh in the Brands Hatch 6 Hours, an event that was part of the World Championship of Makes.

Techno, Bologna, Italy.  Techno was founded by the Pederzani brothers and progressed from being an engineering company to producing Karts which were very successful and won the World Karting Championship in the mid-sixties.  Their first racing car was a F4 and the first F3 car was produced in 1966. This was the era of the 1 litre screamer F3 cars.  By 1968 the Techno was the top F3 car and it continued this success in 1969 with a very similar design.  In 1969 Techno took thirty major F3 wins with half of these being won by Ronnie Peterson. Ronnie Peterson's successes included the prestigious Monaco F3 race.  Other famous drivers who drove the 1969 Techno F3 car included Jean-Pierre Jaussaud, Jurg Dubler, Freddy Link and Peter Gaydon.  The car was successful because of its aerodynamic efficiency and ultimate speed if driven well.  Techno went on to be successful in F2 with Clay Regazzoni winning the 1970 European Championship.   In 1972 and 1973 Techno tried its hand at F1 but a sixth place in the Belgian GP in the hands of Chris Amon proved its best result.  This lack of F1 success resulted in the end of Techno.

Austin Seven Specials, UK.  The Austin Seven was a reasonably priced car produced from 1922 to 1939.  It had a 750cc engine.  Partly because it was a cheap available car pre-war and partly because of the 750 Motor Club after the second World War, many Austin Seven Special have been built.  Above is a single seater version raced regularly by Richard Wyatt.  Below is a Pigsty Special also based on the Austin 7.

Morgan, Malvern, England.   The F4 was a 3 wheeler produced by Morgan from 1933 to 1952.  It was called the F4 as it had a four seater body.  A 933cc Ford 4 cylinder motor was used at the front to power the rear wheel.  They were taxed as motor cycles and thus attractive to those on tight budgets until mass produced cheap 4 wheelers began to take their market..  This was the Morgan that moved away from the exposed motor cycle engines seen on previous models.  The chassis was steel.  Lovely to see one take part in a Hill Climb even though this was a Morgan known for its reliability rather than performance.

PBR, France.  I have seen this pretty little car at a number of hillclimbs and slaloms.  It has its own facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/sportprotopbr/posts - but otherwise I can't find out much about it on the web.   Currently, I am assuming this is a homemade racer with an engine less than 1,600cc.  Perhaps it was originally made before 2004 as it is accepted into Class CNF1.

Lamborghini, Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy.  The Gallardo is the best selling Lamboghini to date with over 14,000 sold from 2003 to 2013.   It is of course a mid-engined sports car with rear wheel drive. There were many different variants over the ten years of production with the second generation appearing in 2008. The Super Trofeo was a racing version of the second generation Gallardo and was initially designed for a Blancpain one make series from 2009. The series continues today and there have been a number of changes to these cars over the years. They have powerful 5.2 litre V10 engines. The car above is a regular in the Championnat de France de la Montagne and competes in the GTTS class which includes GT cars from one-make championships, silhouettes and World Rally Championship cars.

Reynard, Bicester, England.   This was one of the last F3000/Formula Nippon cars produced by Reynard before bankruptcy.  It was successful in Satoshi Montoyama's hands with four wins and the Championship in Formula Nippon in 2001.  Wins for the car continued into 2002 when all cars in Forrmula Nippon had to use the Reynard chassis.  The car was powered by a Mugen Honda engine. in 2013 Alban Thomas was second (vice champion) in the French Mountain Hillclimb series in this car.  Previously Lionel Regal had won the Chamionnat de France de la Montagne three times in a Formula Nippon Reynard 01KL.

Simca, Poissy France.  This was introduced in December 1977 and followed on from the Simca 1000 Ralltye 1 and 2.  Only 1,000 were produced which homologated it as a Group 1 car.  It had a front spoiler and widened wheel arches which distinguished it from the earlier versions.  The engine was a 1.3 litre and the top speed was 183kph and it was regularly used in rallies, hillclimbs and slaloms.

Marcadier, Lyon, France.  This French kit car maker made a number of Renaut or Simca powered cars that looked like Can-Am cars in the early to mid seventies.  Most had Renault 8 Gordini engines. This one has a 1,598cc Renault R12 engine, unusually a Hewland rather than a Renault gearbox and a non-standard rear wing.  It is mainly raced by Londoner Tony Gomis in English hillclimbs and sprints and who has had the car since 2000.
